Lagos is without doubt one of the most picturesque and historical towns in the Algarve. The ancient town walls and winding cobbled streets with white-washed houses glinting in the sunlight today welcome a mix of families, couples, history buffs and surfer dudes – and all get along just fine. The centre of Lagos town is pedestrianised making it perfect for leisurely strolls. The marina too is a favorite place to relax, watching the boats come and go.
The beaches are famous for their beauty with fine sand washed by clear water and backed by ochre cliffs and amazing rock formations, caves and grottoes. Ponta de Piedade and Praia Dona Ana – both considered to be among the most beautiful beach and coast areas in the world are in this town.
