Alvor may be small but it is a big attraction in the Algarve. This small village is a favorite with visitors of all nationalities. The once quiet fishing village is today a busy resort but has retained much of its charm and personality. The warren of narrow, winding, cobbled streets are packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, interspersed with the locals’ homes.

The high point is the village church and the streets drop down towards the river estuary and seafront. The Ria de Alvor (river area) is a favorite nesting place for several species of birds and sunsets here are very picturesque.

There is an excellent wooden boardwalk along the estuary, near to the beach, where you can see walkers, bikes, joggers, locals and visitors all enjoying the beauty of the area. The beach is superb with several beach side restaurants and easy access.
